Deciem Slovember Sale
Everyone is familiar with the Black Friday sales. You’ve been getting notices about them for weeks probably. I’m frugal, so I like bargains as much as the next person. Even so, I don’t go crazy during these events. I went to exactly one in-person Black Friday sale and watched people scoop up carts full of movies, scurry down an aisle and then sort through their treasures to see what they wanted. They took a few and threw the rest on the floor instead of being human and returning the movies to the bins. Yeah, not a fan of mob behavior.
Even so, the one sale I never want to miss is the Deciem Slowvember Sale. You have all of November to shop with 23% off The Ordinary and some Niod products discounted up to 50%.
The Ordinary and Niod products are simple and come with clear explanations about what each one does and how to combine them. They’re extremely cautious about this and some products can be combined depending on the person. It’s always best to research what works for your skin. You know your body better than anyone else.
Here are the products I use. I’ve included links to the products and to their INCI decoder that explains the ingredients.
AM routine:
I wash my face with a quality cleanser, but I don’t spend a lot of money on that. After all, how long does cleanser actually stay on your skin. I’ll switch in a salicylic acid cleanser now and then.
The Ordinary has a few good cleansers. Options include:
I use Isntree Green Tea toner after cleansing because I use a Mito Red panel in the morning and green tea is symbiotic with red light therapy. After that I apply Ishizawa Sukoyaka Suhada Urea Moisture Lotion, which is a Korean urea toner. I also switch between applying it and Secret Key In between serums to enhance moisture. It’s a modified Korean seven-layer method.
OK, on to Ordinary products I use and like: (I’ll link the INCI decoder of the product afterwards.)
- *Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (with Ceramides) * INCI (Note that the Ordinary has upgraded this product to add ceremides which are superstars. INCI Hasn’t caught up yet.)
- *Multi-Peptide + HA Serum* INCI
- *Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA* INCI
Non Ordinary products:
I also use Timeless 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum INCI in the AM routine, so I must be careful which products don’t play well with acids. It’s 30% off right now, so that’s a bargain.
- *COSRX – Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence 100ml* INCI (There’s a lot of disinformation out there about snail filtrate. Snails at Cosrx at least are not tortured or killed for the filtrate. They emphasize that stressed snails leave filtrate that is unusable for cosmetics. So, the snails are put on a gentle net for a few hours a day and allowed to just roam around and relax. Then they go home.)
- *Haruharu Wonder – Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner* INCI
- *Secret Key* INCI (I compared this to SKII in a previous post.)
- *Ishizawa Sukoyaka Suhada Urea Moisture Lotion* INCI
- *Derma Boost, Rejuvenating Spray Mist* (Fulvic acid)
- Walgreen’s Daytime Facial Moisturizer INCI (CereVe dupe)
- Beauty of Joseon – Relief Sun Aqua-fresh Rice + B5 SPF50+ PA++++ – 50ml
- on face, various on body. INCI
PM routine:
I double cleanse in the evening using a cleansing balm first and then a regular cleanser. This is more important for women who wear makeup regularly, but I am still surprised how much dirt collects on my face during the day when I wipe off the balm with a round.
In addition to the starred products above, I also use:
- Multi-Peptide + Copper Peptides 1% Serum INCI
- Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% INCI
- Retin A
- Either Walgreens Night Moisturizer INCI or Nivea, but I won’t be repurchasing Nivea.
Once a week:
- Mandelic Acid 10% + HA INCI and
- Lactic Acid 10% + HA INCI
- are also good.
- Mother Made Exfoliating Vegan Facial Peeling Gel with Green Tea, Vitamin E, Hyaluronic Acid INCI has papaya and cellulose so it’s very gentle and really does leave your skin feeling like silk.
Too much exfoliation strips the skin and causes irritation, yet dead skin cell turnover slows significantly after thirty, making regular exfoliation beneficial.
The Ordinary sent me a free bottle of Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG INCI last time that I always forget to use, but I should.
I ordered a bottle of Saccharomyces Ferment 30% Milky Toner INCI because I’ve heard a lot about it.
I just ran out of the Multi-Peptide + HA Serum last week and I don’t think I’ve ordered it since last year, but I had some left over, so it probably lasted ten months. This year I spent about $100 including tax. Ordinary products are good for 12 months after opening. Shipping was free and if you order between November 8-14, they send you a free 100ml bottle of Natural Moisturizing Factors + Inulin Body Lotion with the code slownmf INCI.
So, I hope you check out The Ordinary this month and I hope this was helpful.
