Buttermilk Pie
Buttermilk pie is another one of my favorites. Don’t worry if you don’t like buttermilk; you can’t taste it.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter melted
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 3 teaspoons all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 9 inch unbaked pie crust (Some people prefer a deep dish)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
-
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth. Mix in the flour, eggs, buttermilk and vanilla. Pour filling into pie shell. Sprinkle top with nutmeg.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until golden brown. Use a knife to test as you do all custard pies.
I love new recipes! Thanks for sharing – this one sounds delicious! 🙂
Thank you. Very welcome. I love buttermilk pie.
Hi Julie — do you use an electric mixer for the “creaming” part, or just at the mixing part?

I use an electric mixer, but you can blend by hand if the butter isn’t too hard. The main thing is to get a thorough mixing so you don’t have globs of butter.
Thanks for stopping by.
Yum, Julie! This sounds like PERFECT retreat food. 😉
Oh heck yes. I’m looking forward to retreat this next year.
