Buttermilk Pie

Buttermilk pie is another one of my favorites. Don’t worry if you don’t like buttermilk; you can’t taste it.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 3 teaspoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 9 inch unbaked pie crust (Some people prefer a deep dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth. Mix in the flour, eggs, buttermilk and vanilla. Pour filling into pie shell. Sprinkle top with nutmeg.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until golden brown. Use a knife to test as you do all custard pies.

I use an electric mixer, but you can blend by hand if the butter isn’t too hard. The main thing is to get a thorough mixing so you don’t have globs of butter.

    Thanks for stopping by.
